The request was made during Mr. Kayode Agbeyangi's speech at the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on Wednesday in Abuja.
He claimed that the NLC's meddling, motivated by self-interest, was to blame for the current outbreak of violence at the National Secretariat of the union.
According to him, NLC has overstepped its bounds in demonstrating its interest in its internal issues, much like the proverbial sympathizer who wept more than the bereaved.
"The NLC made a biased decision that further endangered our efforts to bring all interests together and advance the union.
"It is really terrible and tragic that the umbrella organization of employees, which is supposed to defend the rights and welfare of all workers, has become a vehicle for an upsurge in violence and favoritism.
He added that there had been a gross violation of the union's constitution when Alh. Tajudeen Baruwa, whose term had ended on August 28, was tried to be imposed on the organization.
However, he urged the NLC, which is led by Joe Ajaero, to put aside its prejudice and ethnic emotions for the former General Secretary, who is their family.
He also asked him to stop using the union as a pawn in their futile effort to prove illegality.
The ongoing process of setting up a legally required National Delegates' Conference of the NURTW, as required by the union Constitution, is what is anticipated of the congress at this time, he stated.
Agbeyangi added that the numerous decisions adopted at various union organs have been officially communicated to the NLC and other pertinent bodies through official correspondences.
During the upcoming Quadrennial Delegates Conference, he stated, the union expects the NLC to recognize the NURTW's desire to secure the emergence of a democratically elected National leadership.
"We are certain that the congress will act honorably enough to support the peaceful procedure and to conform to the existing legislative framework and global standards governing industrial relations.
"The congress pledges to uphold that in order to ensure industrial harmony within the union and throughout Nigeria.
"The NLC should give the union's Board of Trustees the chance to resolve the union crises internally as enshrined in its constitution," he said.
