Distancing oneself from the genre, Rema tells coworkers, "We're all under afrobeats."
Divine Ikubor, a renowned Nigerian musician known as Rema, has expressed that irrespective of the diverse genres pursued by him and his other artists, they will collectively align themselves with the afrobeats genre during award ceremonies.

The individual known for his song "Calm Down" expressed this sentiment at the acceptance of his accolade for the most outstanding male artist of the year at the 2023 Headies Awards, held in Atlanta, USA, on Sunday.

Rema emphasized the significance of informing others that her presence is not motivated by the desire for accolades. I am present in this context due to the significance of providing support to our establishments.

By "institutions," I am referring to the entities that provide support in order to facilitate the attainment of significant accomplishments, such as media organizations and award-governing authorities.

The current age is characterized by its sensitivity, and it is imperative that we direct our focus towards our institutions.

Failure to do so may result in missed opportunities. Furthermore, it is quite unlikely that we will be presented with this opportunity in the future.

Whether it is afrorave, afro this, afro that, ultimately, we will convene at the afrobeats award ceremony. This presents us with an opportunity. Afrobeats artists are not the pioneers in this endeavor. Reggae has previously achieved this feat.

The individual's statement is situated within the context of Burna Boy and several other artists expressing their disapproval of the afrobeats label, citing their desire to avoid categorization and claiming that the genre lacks depth.
