Birnin Kebbi TCN station is destroyed by fire.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) station in Birnin Kebbi, the capital of Kebbi State, was completely destroyed by a nocturnal fire.

As of the time this report was filed, the exact cause of the incident was not known, but it was learned that a big bang was heard at the Birnin Kebbi metropolis's TCN station, which is located behind the Mechanic Village.

The fire is believed to have begun approximately 12:30 a.m.

Hours after a similar event on the Kainji/Jebba 330 kilovolt (KV) line caused the national grid to fail and cause a widespread power outage, a fire broke out at the Birnin Kebbi TCN station.

According to Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power, the incident resulted in a 356.63 MW generation loss.
