Bayelsa guber poll: organization warns Diri to keep RCCG and Adeboye out of politics
The New Generation Leaders (NGL) organization has issued a cautionary statement to the Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, and his Chief of Staff, Peter Akpe, advising them against involving the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and its Founder, Pa Enoch Adeboye, in political matters leading up to the forthcoming gubernatorial election on November 11th in the state.

Comrade Precious Charles Odede, the Coordinator of NGL in Yenagoa Local Government Area, revealed that Diri and his team have finalized arrangements to meet with Adeboye in order to seek the endorsement of the RCCG for the upcoming election.

In a communication addressed to DAILY POST, Odede asserted that Akpe was designated to accompany Diri in order to approach Adeboye and implore him to exert his influence on the First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, who is both a minister in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and a key figure, to get her support for his reelection campaign.

According to his statement, there are credible sources indicating that the Diri government intends to seek the assistance of Pa Adeboye.

It has come to our attention that Peter Akpe, the Chief of Staff to the governor, is now engaged in efforts to facilitate a meeting between Governor Diri and Pa Adeboye in Lagos. It is anticipated that Pa Adeboye will thereafter appeal to the first lady, H.E Senator Remi Tinubu, who is also a pastor in the RCCG, to provide support for Diri based on emotional reasons.

According to Odede, the scheme would crumble similar to a deck of cards. Odede also recounted an incident in 2022 where Diri displayed contempt towards Mrs. Tinubu. This occurred when the First Lady, who was actively campaigning for her husband's election, visited Bayelsa to express sympathy towards the victims affected by the flood disaster in the region.

According to the account, it was stated that Diri allegedly prevented Mrs. Tinubu from entering the Government House in Yenagoa and declined to extend the customary reception to her.

According to Odede, regrettably, the esteemed First Lady remains steadfast and resolute in her refusal to succumb to such a desperate scheme. The individual has a vivid recollection of the incident wherein Governor Diri prevented her access to the Creek Haven Gates in the previous year.

It is noteworthy to acknowledge that Pa Adeboye assumes a paternal role towards all individuals, and the RCCG is a religious institution that remains impartial towards any political affiliation. We strongly encourage the government of Bayelsa state to prioritize the efficient allocation of taxpayers' funds by reconsidering the planned trip to Lagos and instead directing their attention towards the responsibilities associated with governance.
