At a one-day interactive meeting with the governor on Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Swali, Yenagoa, CAN expressed its position.
Very Reverend Father Joseph Opelema, the chairman of the state CAN, stated that the organization was pleased with the governor's performance in infrastructure development over the past three and a half years and wants him to continue.
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate Diri, according to the Christian organization, is the best fit for the state's need for a God-fearing leader to steer its affairs.
It also mentioned how the governor's dedication to prayer, support for the Church, and developmental measures had given the state a glimmer of hope.
His dedication to early salary, pension, and gratuity payments as well as the development of the state's three senatorial roads are some of his other accomplishments.
However, CAN emphasized that all of the election candidates were brothers and sisters and urged political actors to abstain from using violence during the voting process so that the people could pick who would lead them.
"We stand with you (Diri) on our decision for continuity and consolidation," Opelema stated. You are our selection.
"We are amazed by your dedication to supporting the church and CAN through prayers, donations, and sponsorship of pilgrimages to the holy land.
"We thank you for building the three senatorial roads, beginning phase two of Glory Drive, and finishing phase three of Glory Drive."
Diri thanked the CAN leadership for supporting his campaign for a second term in office in his reply.
He credited God and the Church's assistance for the accomplishments of his administration.
Diri said that the gesture inspired him to work harder and urged the Christian association's members to support PDP in the election so that he could build on the accomplishments of his first term.
I value the leadership of CAN and PFN (Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria) for your support of this administration, Diri stated. You have shown such dedication.
"You approved me without asking; you did not wait for me to ask. I extend a heartfelt thank you to the church on behalf of a thankful government and party. We won't consider that a given.
"By endorsing, you're telling us we need to take greater action. Thus, it serves as inspiration for us to work more throughout our second term.
"You are the ones keeping track of our accomplishments. That, in my view, is what democracy is all about. It is so that people can evaluate you. They either declare you to have passed or failed after reviewing you. You evaluated us today and gave us a passing grade.
The governor declared that his campaign would be issue-based and denounced the politics of violence.
At the occasion, the Christian community gave Diri a Bible.
