He encouraged aspiring lawyers in the nation to actively pursue and develop their strong capabilities in order to excel in the field of law.
Ani delivered a speech upon assuming the leadership position of the Young Lawyers Forum of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Cross River State on Thursday.
The Attorney-General emphasized the importance for young attorneys to uphold their role as representatives of the Ministry and to seek guidance from esteemed figures in the legal profession.
Additionally, he provided counsel to them, suggesting the establishment of realistic objectives and the subsequent pursuit of those objectives, in order to advance their ambitions of attaining higher positions as judges within the Supreme Court of Nigeria in the foreseeable future.
Similarly, he expressed his admiration for the progress made by the Forum since its inception and urged the young lawyers to maintain the momentum.
In regard to the workload faced by judicial officials, Ani emphasizes the necessity for young lawyers to be assigned as secretaries to judges, aiding in the writing process due to the inherent tension associated with it.
According to his statement, this will provide young attorneys with more opportunities to acquire fundamental knowledge of the judiciary as they progress in their legal careers.
Ani raised concern on the lack of a youth jail and rehabilitation center within the state.
The Forum's Chairman, Barrister George Akiki, has emphasized the need for collaboration with the Office of the Commissioner for Justice in order to enhance the current platforms for undergraduate law practice among law students in the state.
The group has made a plea to the commissioner to facilitate the organization of law seminars in Cross River, with the aim of benefiting legal practitioners within the state.
