According to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), its personnel have successfully intercepted shipments of skunk camouflaged within cans of tomato paste, as well as methamphetamine concealed within second-hand clothing intended for transport to Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.


As per the report from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), a cargo of skunk concealed within a consignment of tomato paste, weighing 20 kilograms, was apprehended on Friday at the SAHCO export shed located at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA Ikeja. Additionally, a separate seizure of methamphetamine, with a total weight of 1.60 kilograms, occurred at a courier firm in Lagos.


The disclosure of this information was made in a statement released on Sunday by Femi Babafemi, the Director of Media & Advocacy for the NDLEA.


The anti-narcotic agency has reported the interception of a another shipment weighing 556 grams of Canadian loud, originating from Canada and intended for Tunji Adebayo in Ikorodu, Lagos. 


This interception was made by officials from the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI), who were assigned to courier businesses.


In a comparable manner, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) conducted a raid on Monday in Akala, Mushin, Lagos, targeting the residence of an individual identified as Abdul Rauf (also known as 'Na God'), who is believed to be a prominent figure involved in drug trafficking.


The operation resulted in the seizure of 1,101 kg of Ghanaian loud, a type of illicit substance, and the apprehension of three individuals suspected of being involved in the illegal drug trade. 


However, the main target of the operation, the aforementioned drug lord, managed to evade capture and is currently still at large.


The agency in Kogi revealed that on Thursday, September 7th, a 22-year-old individual named Agada Emmanuel was apprehended with a quantity of 77.400 kg of cannabis along the Okene-Lokoja-Abuja motorway. Additionally, it was reported that a total of 369,980 pills of opioids were seized on the same road on Monday, September 4th.


According to the provided statement, the individual associated with the confiscation, Kabiru Ahmad Abdullahi, was apprehended in a subsequent operation conducted in Gombe State.


On Thursday, September 7th, a total of 399 improvised explosive devices were reportedly seized by officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) from an individual named Asana Oluwagbenga Leke, aged 39, along the Mokwa-Jebba route.


As per the report from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the individual in question stated that the explosives were entrusted to them at a park located in Ibadan, with the intention of delivering them to an individual residing in Kaduna.


It is worth noting that both the suspect and the related items have been subsequently given to the military authorities in Niger State.


The anti-narcotic agency in Ogun State reported that a subsequent operation resulted in the apprehension of Yinka Azeez in Sabo Lafenwa, Abeokuta on Tuesday, September 5th. 


This operation followed the confiscation of 41kg of cannabis from Titilayo Adetayo at Sagamu Interchange the previous day. As a result of these events, two individuals, namely Muhammad Aliyu, aged 38, and Abdullahi Zakariya, aged 40, were arrested in Zaria-Kano Road and Haye Arewa, Hotoro, Kano, respectively. 


The arrests were made after the seizure of over 426.5 kilograms of skunk from them.


The agency further reported that an individual named Onyeka Uzor, aged 25, was apprehended in Idemili, Anambra State, in possession of 64.8 kilograms of skunk and tramadol. 


Additionally, another suspect named Destiny Irabor was captured on Friday, September 8th, transporting more than 180 kilograms of opiates in his Toyota Sienna bus.


In Kaduna, two individuals, namely Ahmed Yusuf and Rilwan Nura, were apprehended on the 6th of September for their alleged involvement in the confiscation of 100 blocks of cannabis weighing around 55 kilograms along Abuja road.


In the state of Edo, law enforcement agents conducted a raid on the Ekudo forest located in the Onwude Local Government Area. During this operation, they successfully dismantled cannabis cultivation sites over an area of around 4.236347 hectares.


Similarly, on September 7th, law enforcement agents conducted a search at the residence of Amuodu Egwehide, a 40-year-old individual residing in Iloje Okpuje, Owan West LGA. During the operation, a total of 22 bags containing 261.4 kilograms of skunk were discovered and seized.


Additionally, on the same day, a 60-year-old woman named Mrs. Eunice Egwehide was apprehended in the aforementioned town. She was found to be in possession of 17 kilograms of the aforementioned substance, which was subsequently confiscated.


On Wednesday, 6th September, two individuals were apprehended in separate incidents involving the possession of cannabis. 


The first suspect, Gapchiya Modu, aged 26, was caught along Kano-Nguru Road in Nguru, Yobe state, with a total of 60 kilograms of cannabis. 


In the second incident, Usim Orji, aged 45, was found in possession of 200 blocks of cannabis totaling 57 kilograms along Aba-Owerri road in Imo state.


Following a period of more than two months of surveillance, operatives from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) apprehended a sought-after criminal, Idoko Festus Ifesinachi, aged 40. 


Ifesinachi has been implicated in the smuggling of 76.9 kilograms of Canadian Loud, which was intercepted within a container labeled MSDU6686346 at the Port Harcourt Ports Complex in Onne, Rivers state, on the 2nd of June.


According to the statement, the individual was apprehended at his concealed location in Lagos and subsequently transported to Port Harcourt.


Nevertheless, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has stated that in addition to its multifaceted drug control initiatives, the state commands and affiliated units have persistently carried out the Agency's advocacy campaigns for the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) in educational institutions, places of worship, royal residences, and local communities, among other venues.

Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), expressed his appreciation for the commendable efforts of the officers and personnel in various commands, including MMIA, Ogun, Lagos, Kano, Kaduna, Kogi, Anambra, Niger, Edo, Yobe, and Imo, in both drug supply reduction and drug demand reduction activities.


He encouraged them and their colleagues nationwide to continue their diligent work.
