As members complete a leadership training at NIPSS, RTEAN will purge parks of thugs.

As members complete a leadership training at NIPSS, RTEAN will purge parks of thugs. The Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) has expressed its commitment to implementing reforms within the transportation sector and addressing the issue of thuggery prevalent in car parks.

The President of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Musa Maitakobi, made this statement on Friday, following the distribution of certificates of attendance to 17 RTEAN members who successfully finished a training program on strategic leadership, ethics, and policy making at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Jos, Plateau state.

During the event, the president of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) was bestowed with the Nigeria Silent Heroes Award (NSHA).

Maitakobi emphasized that the constitution of RTEAN explicitly discourages acts of thuggery and hooliganism.

He further stated that the leadership training received by RTEAN members has the potential to positively alter the public opinion of road transport workers in Nigeria.

He expressed gratitude towards the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS). This is beneficial for individuals who possess a higher level of education.

At first, the general perception of our group is that of individuals engaged in unsavory activities and disorderly behavior.

However, with closer examination of our constitutional framework, it becomes evident that our primary objective is to eliminate the presence of touts and the prevalence of hooliganism within motor parks.

This observation further highlights the educational background of our members, as it is a prerequisite to be educated in order to have access to NIPSS.

It is noteworthy that the effects of this leadership training have begun to manifest. The individuals who participated in the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) will disseminate the knowledge acquired during the program to their respective state chapters, thereby facilitating the training of other individuals. RTEAN members are not accustomed to engaging in disruptive behavior.

It is not appropriate to draw comparisons between our union and other unions. In instances of discontent, it is customary for individuals to direct their grievances towards security agencies, as they typically refrain from resorting to acts of violence.

Consider the case of Lagos, where a rally was conducted on Monday, characterized by a peaceful atmosphere.

Additionally, I would like to emphasize to our members the need of adhering to the law in any location they may find themselves.

It is advisable to refrain from placing oneself in circumstances that may lead to complications, and it is important to establish personal boundaries to prevent others from using one's resources or taking advantage of one's vulnerability.

It is acknowledged that engaging in rallies or protests is a fundamental right; nonetheless, it is imperative to refrain from engaging in activities that result in property destruction or confrontation with security agents.

Adamu Jalaludeen, the Chairman of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) in Kaduna State and Vice President of the North West region, expressed his participation in the leadership training and emphasized that the association is actively asserting its rightful position among other labor unions.

According to his statement, historical records indicate that no previous leader has ever undertaken such actions.

The president made the decision to choose individuals from inside the organization's lower-level employees to participate in a leadership training program.

He selected us for participation not solely based on our superior abilities, but more due to his genuine concern for the well-being and success of the association.

This indicates that RTEAN is assuming its appropriate position within the overall framework.
