Arsenal vs. Tottenham: Arteta reveals why he substituted Raya for Ramsdale

Aaron Ramsdale was benched by the Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta for his team's Premier League North London derby matchup against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday at the Emirates.

Against Tottenham, Arteta once more decided to start Raya instead of Ramsdale.

He had previously said he intended to alternate between the two Premier League goalkeepers, and even hinted that he might think about switching keepers in the middle of a game if he felt the need to do so due to tactical considerations.

But a pattern is starting to take shape, and Raya seems to have replaced Ramsdale in the interim.

But Arteta acknowledged that he needed to make a "call" at the Emirates before the game began.

"We're attempting to play the way we want to on this particular day. Arteta explained his choice to start Raya over Ramsdale on Sky Sports: "I made some calls and left some players on the bench.
