Anambra: The police caution people not to spread panic-inducing outdated footage.
According to the Anambra State Police Command, anyone spreading outdated recordings of attacks on security personnel in an attempt to spread panic in the state will be detained.

This was mentioned in a press release that DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the police public relations officer (PPRO) of the state police command, gave to iGONG.

Ikenga claimed that some persons have been disseminating recordings of an assault on soldiers in Umunze from a year ago under the guise of a recent incident in an effort to depict the state as unstable.

The statement read: "The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, has labeled as "enemies of the people" anybody spreading old videos of a commercial bus burning at Nanka and a soldier being killed at Umunze, both of which occurred last year during the gloomy times of insecurity.

"The Commissioner of Police has cautioned purveyors of false alarm who attempt to instill fear in the public by spreading rumors that they will be held accountable after describing the practice of recycling such outdated video clips as nasty propaganda.

The Nigeria Police Force's Cybercrime Unit has been tasked by the commissioner to find out who is using outdated films to incite fear and panic among the public.

"He wants to reassure Ndi Anambra that the Police and sister security organizations will always go above and beyond to protect them from agents of darkness who don't have their best interests or the interests of the country in mind.

"He urged Ndi Anambra to ignore the films and refrain from assisting the spread of them by opponents of progress.
