Alia will relaunch the Governor's Cup football competition in Benue.
After a seven-year break, the Governor's Football Cup tournament will be returned, according to the Benue State Government.

When representatives of the Benue State Football Association, or BSFA, paid him a courtesy visit on Friday in Makurdi, the commissioner for youths, sports, and creativity, Terkimbi Ikyange, revealed this.

In order to realize Governor Hyacinth Alia's vision of social harmony, economic prosperity, and human capital development through sports, Ikyange reaffirmed his Ministry's commitment to overhauling the sports industry.

He claims that initiatives are being made to enhance the state of the sporting facilities, which are now in poor shape, in order to foster the development of talent and draw attention and funding from other organizations.

Additionally, he hinted at plans for the Alia administration to resume sponsoring sporting events like the Governor's Cup.

Ikyange emphasized that through reliving the heyday of BCC Lions and Lobi Stars FC, his Ministry would ensure that Benue State regained its position as a dominant power in both domestic and international soccer.

He urged BSFA members to support the governor's plans for reviving the state's athletic community, particularly football.

BSFA Chairman Paul Edeh praised the efforts being made by the Benue State government to enhance grassroots football development in the state during his remarks.
