After a court decision, the suspended Osun Poly Rector, Odetayo resumes his duties.

Dr. Tajudeen Odetayo, the Rector of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, who was previously suspended, resumed his duties on Thursday.

According to the findings of INFOGONG, it was observed that he recommenced his activities precisely at 7:57 a.m.

The announcement of the suspension was communicated by the state government through a formal letter signed by Kehinde Jimoh, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, on Monday, July 24th.

Odetayo faced suspension due to engaging in egregious theft of funds and engaging in abuse of office.

Kehinde Alabi, a faculty member of the college, was designated as the Acting Rector in lieu of the previous incumbent.

The local branch of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) responded by suspending academic activity, asserting that Alabi, who assumed the role in an interim capacity, lacked the necessary qualifications for the job.

The students of the Institution similarly engaged in protest, advocating for the reinstatement of academic activity.

According to Dr. Ezekiel Alabi, the Chairman of Osun Poly ASUP, the resumption of Mr. Odetayo as Rector is a consequence of the ruling made by the National Industrial Court, Ibadan Division, which ordered his reinstatement.

On the preceding Friday, a court ruling was issued, resulting in the reinstatement of Dr. Tajudeen Odetayo.

It is often understood that Friday marks the conclusion of the work week, and by the subsequent Monday, all 15 parties involved in the legal proceedings had been appropriately served with the necessary documents. 

It is worth noting that a nationwide strike occurred on both Tuesday and Wednesday. Today, he has returned to the office," he stated.

Alabi expressed his appreciation for the compliance of the state governor, Ademola Adeleke, with the judicial declaration.

Additionally, he expressed the expectation that the state government will adhere to the principles of legal governance and duly attend the scheduled hearing on October 10, 2023.
