Adamawa community is affected by flooding
Anguwan Tana, a village in Yola North LGA, was drowned on Thursday by overflow from River Kilange and River Faro.

The farming community is located in the state capital along the River Benue, which flows through Yola.

The community's residents bemoaned the loss of their farms as a result of the severe flooding.

Dr. Mohammed Suleiman, the Executive Secretary of the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency, ADSEMA, visited the devastated region on Friday and stated that if the locals had followed the warnings about potential flooding, their suffering would have been spared.

The head of ADSEMA told reporters, "We had informed them when we received the prognosis of floods before the beginning of the rainy season.

He promised them of both food and non-food assistance supplies while emphasizing the necessity for them to constantly cooperate with the administration.

Malam Rabiu Ibrahim, the community's ward chief, blamed the flood on insufficient drainage and urged the state government to take action.

Aisha Mohammed, a mother of 10 and one of the victims, said: "We have kids, and the water is really unclean. The government needs to take action and move us somewhere safer since it poses a risk to our health and the environment.

Even though the government has been warning us about the flood, we have nowhere to go, she continued. The only location we have is here.
