33 locals kidnapped in the hometown of the governor of Bauchi are freed by the Joint Task Force
33 individuals who were kidnapped in the Alkaleri region of the state have been freed by the Bauchi State Joint Task Force.

Alkaleri, the hometown of Governor Bala Mohammed, is reportedly one of the regions experiencing bandit attacks, according to iGONG.

Mohammed recently denounced the latest wave of kidnappings in the State and named the Toro, Ningi, Alkaleri, and Tafawa-Balewa LGAs as the hotspots.

The governor was alarmed by the situation and gave the task force the command to confront the bandits and ensure the release of all 33 victims who had been kidnapped just a few days earlier.

To what extent a ransom was paid, however, is still unclear as of the publication of this story.

They were released on Saturday, according to Comr. Bala Ibrahim Mahmoud, chairman of the LGA's Caretaker Committee.

After the successful operation, he said that the victims were handed over to security personnel in Yalwan Duguri, Alkaleri, on Friday night.

Mahmoud praised the security forces for the swift action, adding that the victims will go through medical exams to make sure they were in excellent health before anything else was done.
