This is happening even as the marked structures along the intended road have started to be demolished.
Otti said that the road expansion was consistent with his administration's objective to turn the state capital city into a modern town in his speech at the project's inauguration.
He emphasized that once the road was finished, the Abia capital would have a new look and be more beautiful.
Otti, who outlined the difficulties he ran into while designing the idea, recalled that some people begged to be permitted to exhume and rebury their deceased relatives.

Eze Emelike Chiabuotu of the Ossah community thanked the governor in his speech for starting the construction of a significant road project from his kingdom and predicted that, if finished, the project will completely transform his village.
While this is going on, the buildings marked by the Ministry of Works are being demolished by bulldozers from the Abia State Ministry of Works in Umuahia and officials from the Umuahia Capital Development Authority, or UCDA.

As the bulldozers destroyed their properties, some of the building owners, especially those at Okigwe Motor Park, were seen sobbing.
