Why I chose Reece James to be the new captain of Chelsea: Pochettino

Reece James has been named the new captain of the Chelsea club by manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Cesar Azpilicueta, who left Stamford Bridge this summer, is replaced by James.

To join Atletico Madrid, Azpilicueta has relocated to his native Spain.

James, a graduate of Chelsea's school, has the armband permanently now after donning it during Chelsea's preseason tour.

"The club and I came to this choice. We are thrilled that Reece will lead the team this year as captain.

He sets an excellent example, and his attitude and commitment to Chelsea were evident during the preseason. "He took up the challenge of leading our squad with his own attitude and ideas," Pochettino added. "He proudly donned the armband during our summer trip.
