The recent police raid at the residence of American rapper Polo G in Southern California has resulted in charges against both Polo G and his brother Trench Baby.
On Thursday, August 24, TMZ reported that Polo had been arrested for gun possession while his brother had been charged with robbery. According to the LAPD, the search was conducted in response to a tip dated August 15 that claimed Trench Baby had robbed a guy in Granada Hills while filming a music video.
According to the report, when the alleged victim came, Trench Baby pulled a revolver with an extended magazine and demanded that he empty his pockets and wire money to him into another account. Evidently, the two had previously worked together.
Police said many firearms were found during the raid, and the rapper was arrested for illegally possessing the short-barreled rifle that was reportedly used in the crime.
The Los Angeles house of the Chicago rapper was seen on camera by TMZ on Wednesday with police cars parked outside. Police broke into his home and handcuffed many residents before leaving.
Shortly afterward, the rapper's attorney released a statement detailing what happened, claiming the entire altercation was just to "verify" his client isn't a convicted felon.
Bradford Cohen told XXL that Polo was not directly involved in the incident, which "centered around someone staying in Polo's home." "The authorities claim a pistol was discovered in the home, so they've detained Polo to'verify' that he is not a felon on the loose. It is well known that Polo has never been convicted of a crime and is not currently.
"I personally got all of his charges in Miami dismissed when we believed he had been wrongfully detained and charged," he continued. Someone will have to answer for these additional wrongdoings because they have refused to provide us access to our client, which is also an illegal and unethical conduct.
Polo G was arrested again shortly after being held for the police raid and later freed on a warrant for a kidnapping.
He was freed from Burbank Jail at around 4:30 a.m. local time, according to sources familiar with the matter, and was required to deposit a $100,000 bond in order to do so.
"Burbank Police tell us Polo and TB had outstanding warrants for kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, and robbery, stemming from a report filed last April," stated the site. Around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, officers waited for the couple to be released from LAPD custody before apprehending them for the warrant.
