Through sports and culture, Masai Ujiri presents a new vision for Africa.

Masai Ujiri, co-founder of the Giants of Africa and president and vice-chair of the Toronto Raptors, has established a center for entrepreneurship, play, and business on the continent.

Masai Ujiri's first urban development initiative, which put a strong emphasis on community, hospitality, sports, and culture, broke new ground.

The first Zaria Court is set to open in early 2025 and is intended to serve as a center for social and cultural community gatherings as well as a draw for sports fans, influencers, and Africa's growing middle class. It is situated within Kigali's vibrant sports and entertainment district, close to the recently constructed BK Arena and the still-under-construction Amahoro National Stadium.

"Sport offers individuals chances for employment, leisure, and wellbeing, as we all know. However, this project also demonstrates how athletics can serve as a catalyst for communities and for entire countries. "These spaces can help create jobs, businesses, and entire economies," Ujiri remarked. "We're thrilled to open Zaria Court in the center of Kigali, where young people, women, and business owners have countless opportunities and where highly successful international athletic events have been staged. At Zaria Court Kigali, we look forward to hosting visitors from Rwanda, Africa, and the rest of the world.

We are quite appreciative that we have been able to collaborate on so many things, such as the Zaria

court project and the environment it has created. It expands throughout Rwanda, the area, and our continent, according to His Excellency. President of the Republic of Rwanda, Paul Kagame. "The potential is enormous—in fact, it is infinite. This kind of investment strengthens economies, expands infrastructure, and promotes tourism. Greater than what the eyes can see, the effect

The project in Kigali, the first Zaria Court on the continent, is built around an urban hospitality hub with an 80-room boutique hotel, restaurants, a rooftop lounge, a gym, wellness facilities, co-working spaces, and a podcast studio that makes use of previously used structures. The site's focal point is a multipurpose court that can host a variety of events, including sporting competitions, festivals, performances, marketplaces, and other gatherings.

There is a bustling shop section at Zaria Court Kigali that can change to meet the demands of the local community and tourists. In order to create an environmentally friendly retail area that serves as an incubator hub for women-owned enterprises and young local entrepreneurs, shipping containers will be converted into stores and other businesses.

With Accra, Ghana, Lagos, Nigeria, Dakar, Senegal, Johannesburg, South Africa, and Nairobi, Kenya as initial target markets, the objective is to establish Zaria Courts around the continent in thriving cities.
