In response to Governor Godwin Obaseki's assertion that President Bola Tinubu lacks a strategy to mitigate the effects of subsidy removal, Mohammed Idris, minister of communication and national orientation, has responded.
In response to the assertion, the minister stated that President Bola Tinubu's administration is trying to ensure the prosperity of the nation.
In addition, Idris charged Obaseki of engaging in "cheap politics" even though that was out of the question. He stated:
"The federal government is working extremely hard with the states and local governments to provide assistance to our people because it is aware of the current challenges Nigerians are facing.
"President Tinubu is leading our nation through incredibly difficult circumstances. We have utmost faith that a flourishing future is just around the corner.
What is needed right now is for leaders at all levels to work together cooperatively to improve the lives of Nigerians, rather than to engage in cheap politics that accomplish nothing more.
"The time for politics and politicking is finished, as President Tinubu has warned. The emphasis should be on how the Edo state administration will use existing resources to promote effective projects that actually improve the people of Edo State rather than diving into storylines that don't give the whole picture.
