The baby, rescued from a pit latrine after three days, died.

Regrettably, the infant male who was successfully retrieved from a pit latrine in Otuocha, situated inside the Anambra East Local Government Area, has passed away.

According to a previous article by iGONG, it was said that Nwaedoka Chidimma, a 20-year-old woman from Izzi, Ebonyi State, intentionally threw her infant kid into a hole.

Upon receiving the information, Ify Obinabo, the Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare in Anambra State, issued instructions for the newborn to be transported to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital, Amaku, located in Awka, for medical treatment.

It was determined by iGONG that despite employing various resuscitation techniques, such as the provision of oxygen and fluids through cardiopulmonary resuscitation, the infant's life could not be preserved.

A statement posted on a Facebook page associated with the commissioner conveys the regretful news of the recent demise of an infant who was rescued from a pit toilet in Otuocha. Despite exhaustive attempts to revive the newborn, such as the administration of oxygen and fluids, as well as cardiopulmonary resuscitation performed by the medical professionals at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital Amaku Awka, the baby could not be saved.
