The Akwa Ibom police arrested a child trafficker who abducted two children and attempted to kill their mother.
The Akwa Ibom State Police authorities have apprehended an individual named Peace Patrick Paul on charges of suspected child trafficking. Paul is alleged to have unlawfully taken possession of two children and made an attempt on the life of their mother.

On Wednesday, August 30, 2023, Peace, together with three other ladies named Mary Eunice, Bella Uko, and Alayodi Paul Onyekwere, were presented by the State Police Commissioner, CP Olatoye Durosinmi, at the police headquarters in Ikot Akpanabia, Uyo. These individuals had been apprehended on charges related to child trafficking.

According to the law enforcement officer, the Commissioner of Police (CP), it was revealed that Peace engaged in deceptive actions towards Utibeabasi Monday Enang, residing in Obot Akara Local Government Area. Peace unlawfully took custody of her two children, aged three and five, in May 2023. Subsequently, Peace proceeded to sell the children to Eunice in Aba, Abia State. Eunice, in turn, further sold the children to Uko in Asaba, Delta State.

According to Durosinmi, the mother of the abducted children was subjected to severe physical violence, nearly resulting in her death, when she insisted on retrieving her children from the individual responsible for their disappearance. Consequently, she was compelled to escape in order to preserve her own life.

The Commissioner of Police also said that a second female suspect, Alayodi Paul Onyekwere from Abroma, Rivers State, was apprehended for the abduction of an 11-year-old girl belonging to Emmanuel Macauley Daniel from Ikot Ikot Village in Obot Akara LGA.

The individual in question said that she had been instructed by her grandmother to abduct the child, a statement that subsequently guided law enforcement personnel in successfully locating and retrieving the youngster in Rivers State. According to the CP, the children are present today and will soon be reunited with their respective families.

During an interview with journalists, Utibeabasi Enang, the mother of the two children, recounted the events in which the perpetrator tricked her by offering to transport her to a medical facility in Ikot Abasi for the purpose of treating her condition. However, the suspect thereafter attempted to harm her after transporting her children to an undisclosed location.

After being transported to the hospital in Ikot Abasi by Peace, a diagnosis of internal heat was made. Subsequently, Peace proceeded to accommodate me in the residences of her many romantic partners, where our stay extended for a duration exceeding three weeks. Upon my initiation of inquiring about the whereabouts of my offspring, she made a commitment to escort me to the location where they were situated.

During our journey, she requested the driver to make a brief stop at a bridge, indicating that it was necessary for us to traverse the bridge. While in the process of across the bridge, I encountered an altercation with an individual named Peace, who proceeded to physically assault me and made an effort to forcibly propel me into the adjacent river. However, I engaged in a defensive fight with Peace until a nearby resident intervened and provided assistance in rescuing me from the perilous situation.

The individual escorted me to his residence, where I availed myself of his telephone to initiate a call in order to request financial assistance, as my personal mobile device had been confiscated by Peace.

Upon my arrival to the village, I proceeded to inform the village chairman of the issue at hand, who then relayed the details to the Yak Iyamma organization. I express profound gratitude to the divine being for the fortuitous outcome of locating my offspring amidst the circumstances that transpired.
