The Federal Executive Council (FEC) is holding its first meeting, which is being presided over by President Bola Tinubu, in the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, Sen. George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, the head of the Federation's civil service, are all present at the meeting, which began a little after noon on Monday.
The new ministers, Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of State to the President, and other senior government officials are also present.
The council's function is to advise the President, who chairs the FEC, in accordance with the Ministers' Statutory Powers and Duties Act.
Although the President is the ultimate executive decision-maker, the FEC has a constitutional duty to advise him on how to run the country.
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) is the federal government's cabinet and a division of the executive branch. Its chairman, the President, serves as an advisory body to the FEC.
