Police in Abia confirm the pastor's arrest in connection with the hotel room death of a female evangelist.

Bishop Timothy Otu, the general overseer of the Agape Evangelical Ministry, has been detained, according to the Abia State Police, in connection with the death of Mrs. Happiness Echieze, a female evangelist, in an Aba hotel.

According to ASP Maureen Chinaka, the police public relations officer for the Abia State command, Otu had checked into a hotel in the Obingwa council area with the woman, 43, but she was subsequently discovered dead in the room with her clothes removed.

In order to reportedly have sex with the female evangelist in his church, who is claimed to be a mother of three with her husband located in Bayelsa State, Otu, who is from Ugep, Cross River State, checked into the hotel, according to sources who spoke to Vanguard.

According to the PPRO, "On August 13, 2023, at around 9:30 am, Mr. Godwin Akpan (male), who resides at Jubilee Guest House in Ovom Village, Obingwa LGA, reported an incident to the Isiala Ngwa Police Division.

It was discovered that a clergyman named Timothy Otu (male), affiliated with the Agape Evangelical Ministry at Obikabia Junction in the Obingwa LGA, and a woman named Happiness Echieze (female) from the Isialangwa LGA, Abia State, had both checked into the hotel on the evening of August 12, 2023, around 9:25 p.m. The age of Happiness Echieze was 43.

"According to other information presented by Mr. Akpan, on the same date, at approximately midnight, he entered the aforementioned clergyman's hotel room and found Happiness Echieze's lifeless body.

She was discovered naked, and her lips and nose were emitting a white liquid. Unfortunately, the clergyman wasn't present.

"We hereby notify the public that this matter has been the subject of immediate preliminary investigations. The body was moved from the scene and is now at the SDA Mortuary in Aba where an autopsy will be performed.

Chinaka further mentioned that the case had been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department, CID, and that the rogue cleric had been detained.
