It is inappropriate to be Minister while serving, says NYSC to newly appointed Minister of Arts and Culture, Hannatu Musawa.

The appointment of Mrs. Hannatu Musawa as the Minister of Arts and Culture has prompted a response from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

By taking the position of minister before completing her one-year youth service program, Musawa violated the NYSC Act, according to Eddy Megwa, director of press and public relations for NYSC.

According to Megwa, it is against the NYSC Act for any corps member to accept a government position prior to the completion of their one-year service.

He further disclosed that Musawa had been mobilized for her youth service program in 2001, but that she had moved to Kaduna State to carry out the program after completing her orientation in Ebonyi State. Megwa claimed that after arriving in Kaduna, she fled and abandoned the program.

The NYSC spokeswoman added that the program would investigate the problem and take appropriate measures.
