In Kaduna, troops defeat three bandits and free 10 captives.

In Kaduna State's Chikun and Igabi Local Government Areas, soldiers from the 1 Division of the Nigerian Army defeated three bandits and freed 10 captives. 

 

This information was released in a statement on Saturday, August 12, 2023 by Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, acting deputy director of Army Public Relations, 1 Division Nigerian Army. 

 

"In the Division's Area of Responsibility, troops from 1 Division Nigerian Army have resumed their rigorous clearance operation against all criminal elements. The courageous warriors made contact with marauding bandits and criminal elements in Kabode village of Chikun Local Government Area and Birnin Yero village of Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, the statement said. The operation has once again produced great results.


On August 11, 2023, troops exploited the Kabode general area of the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State based on reliable intelligence, made contact with rampaging bandits, and engaged them in a fire fight.

 

"Troops neutralized three robbers and seized an AK-47 weapon with 28 7.62 mm bullets, a camouflage jungle hat, three mobile phones, a head-waver, an MP3 player, charms, and the sum of 1,335 naira alone.


"Earlier, on August 10, 2023, based on reliable information of a kidnapping incident in the Danbaba hamlet of the Igabi Local Government, forces set up an ambush in Birnin Yero. When the bandits saw the army, they fled and left all 10 of the victims they had abducted. The kidnapped victims who were rescued have received medical care and been reunited with their family.
 
The commander of Operation Whirl Punch and the general overseeing 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. BA Alabi, has once more praised the soldiers and begged with the locals to keep providing timely, reliable intelligence to the Nigerian Army and other security agencies.
