I'm still a PDP member, says Babayemi

Dotun Babayemi, a pillar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, has maintained that he is still an active party member.

He called the Kangaroo proceedings that led to his expulsion from the Osun PDP few months ago.

He claimed that individuals who don't care about the law and operate with impunity are in charge of the party leadership in the state.

According to INFOGONG, Babayemi was kicked out of the PDP in his ward after Ademola Adeleke was proclaimed the winner of the Osun 2022 gubernatorial election.

The state chapter of the party came after the ward expulsion.

Babayemi, though, argued in a statement on Thursday that the actions taken against him by the party leadership were due to the party's narrow-mindedness and their approach to the rules of engagement.

The statement reads, "This is hardly surprising given they are being forced to work as kindergarten CEOs with no other defined sources of income than scraps from politics.

They are constantly provoked in a bashful and sentimental manner, which is against established laws. They don't even understand the party's constitution, let alone the national one.

Remember that on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, an Osun State High Court in Osogbo, presided over by Justice Jide Falola, granted an Order of Mandatory Interim Injunction preventing and reversing the plaintiff's expulsion as a member of the PDP in suit No:HOS/M.212/2022 between Babayemi, the PDP, INEC, and ten others.

In a similar spirit, the court prohibited the party and its representatives from initiating additional punitive actions against the plaintiff while the ultimate litigation was being decided.

In addition to this, on Friday, September 9, 2022, the same court, presided over by Justice Jide Falola, changed the Interim Order of Mandatory Injunction into Preservative Order of Injunction in another matter No: HOS/M.212/2022 involving Babayemi, PDP, INEC, and ten other parties.

To this purpose, the court additionally issued an express directive that the parties to the lawsuit maintain the status quo based on the earlier-granted order while the Motion on Notice for Interlocutory Injunction is heard and decided.

They never filed an appeal against this court order because of their haughtiness or, more likely, ignorance, and as a result, it is still in effect. Without beggaring the question, Babayemi continues to be a legitimate financial card-carrying member of the PDP, the speaker continued.

He also promised to keep fighting for effective government for the benefit of all State citizens.

"Politics is not a family affair; it is for the people, not for the selfish interests of a few rich individuals.

"Whoever is put off by our advocacy in this direction will undoubtedly find us to be a tough nut to crack. We won't give up until the aspirations of our ancestors for our beloved State are realized, said Babayemi.
