The Kogi Government has advised residents and visitors to disregard rumors of insecurity that are circulating claiming the state is unsafe.
Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi's security adviser, retired commodore Jerry Omodara, made the call while interacting with reporters in Lokoja.
Kogi State is hot right now, according to a notification that has gone around the state. If you're traveling to Kogi State to visit family or friends, please stay away from Jimgbe, Elete, Emoro, Geregu, and Ajaokuta.
Avoid the Obajana Old Road as well. Please do not use the old route; it is exceedingly dangerous, even if you are stuck in traffic because of the construction of the new bridge.
People should be warned not to believe unverified reports like that, especially when they pertain to Kogi security, according to Omodara.
"According to the state of security, such a thing is occurring in Kogi. All of it is false.
"Believe us; no one will have the opportunity to harass the Kogi people as they formerly did. As things are, there is no reason to worry about Kogi State.
"This is due to the state's fast harvesting of offenders entering the country. Even those who fled to other states are being harvested because we make sure to track them down and bring them home to face charges.
The people should only provide timely information, he said, and the security agencies should carry out their duties.
The security advisor clarified, "It's true that crime cannot be totally eradicated from any society, but the compact neighborhood system and security architecture established in Kogi by the Federal Government are very effective in conjunction with the determination of the Kogi Government to address the emerging security situation.
He said, "Be sure we have stopped 6 or 7 or 8 in the bud if we have one or two security challenges."
He said that despite a recent event, people shouldn't keep making it out to be a serious threat to the safety of nearby residents and bystanders.
"Everyone is aware of the current security scenario and the situation in Kogi.
The people of Kogi are now quite free and able to conduct their legal business without fear of persecution thanks to Gov. Bello's administration.
Therefore, he recommended, "it's better you channel information, whenever you discovered any security challenge or breach to the security operatives for prompt action," rather than escalating untruth on social media.
Omodara expressed his satisfaction that the Kogi government and security personnel were doing a good job.
"We will continue to combat insecurity in Kogi for the benefit of our people until the last day of Alh. Yahaya Bello's term as governor, and even to the next government."
