'I didn't like it,' Spain's Hermoso says of the FA president kiss during the Women's World Cup in 2023

Jenni Hermoso, a veteran of Spanish football, has admitted that she didn't enjoy the way Spanish FA President Luis Rubiales grabbed and kissed her during the award ceremony.

Despite the fact that Hermoso's low penalty attempt was stopped by England's Mary Earps, the 113-minute player was crucial to the victory over the English.

After the encounter, she expressed her unhappiness via an Instagram live.

After Spain defeated the Lionesses of England on Sunday afternoon to win their first female World Cup, the players gathered in a frenzied queue to the hastily assembled podium to accept their medals. The Spanish FA President grasped her hand, gripped her head, and rushed forward to press his lips to hers when it was Hermoso's turn.

Afterward, the 33-year-old said to Spanish television: "Eh...yeah, I did not enjoy that."

But when she spoke about the event in the locker room later, she did downplay the circumstances.

"The great excitement of winning a World Cup caused the gesture to be fully spontaneous on both sides. The president and I have a terrific relationship; he has demonstrated excellent behavior toward all of us, and it was a natural display of love and appreciation.

The President, however, dismissed it, saying that only "idiots" were making a big deal out of it.

"We can't pay attention to ignorance when two people show affection for one another. I'll concentrate on the fact that we are [world] champions, he remarked.
