Hardeep Singh Kohli, a comedian for the BBC, has been accused of 'non-recent' sexual offenses.
After being freed from detention, the 54-year-old will next be seen in court.
Mr. Kohli has presented a number of programs for the BBC and was a contestant on Celebrity Big Brother and Celebrity MasterChef in the past.
It happens in response to complaints made by several women, which were covered by The Times last month.
'A 54-year-old male has been detained and charged in connection with allegations of non-recent sexual offenses,' a Police Scotland spokesperson said.
He was freed under the condition that he would return to court later.
"The Procurator Fiscal has been provided with a report of the circumstances."
In addition to becoming a housemate on Celebrity Big Brother 2018 alongside former Arsenal player Jermaine Pennant, Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas, and former Cheers actress Kirstie Alley, Mr. Kohli finished second in the 2006 season of Celebrity MasterChef.
It's better to have loved and lost than never entered the Celebrity Big Brother house at all, Mr. Kohli stated before going in.
In the 1960s, the comedian's parents emigrated to the UK from India, and Mr. Kohli later attended the University of Glasgow to study law.
