The law enforcement authorities have formally requested assistance in the process of identifying a kid, estimated to be between the ages of five and six, whose deceased corpse was discovered in a river within the borders of Germany over a year ago.


The discovery of the boy's remains took place in May 2022 within the geographical boundaries of Bavaria, a state in Germany.


The international law enforcement organization, Interpol, has disclosed that it has released pertinent information regarding the case in an effort to ascertain the identity of the deceased child and throw light on the potentially dubious circumstances surrounding his demise.


The statement suggests that there is a someone with knowledge pertaining to the boy in question, while their identity and location remain unspecified.


Interpol secretary-general Jurgen Stock expressed the organization's commitment to investigating the circumstances behind the individual's death, including the possibilities of trafficking, kidnapping, or assault.


This marks the inaugural instance in which Interpol has publicly released a black notice, a request for information pertaining to an unidentified deceased individual, specifically concerning a minor.


This development signifies an expansion of a significant initiative initiated by the organization in May, known as Operation Identify Me. The campaign aimed to gather information regarding the names of 22 women who were victims of homicide throughout Europe, however remain unidentified.


The dissemination of the black notices, which are issued as a component of the campaign, typically remains confined to Interpol's internal circulation among its global network of law enforcement agencies.


According to Interpol, the discovery of the boy's body occurred on 19 May 2022 in the River Danube. The body was found enveloped in foil and deliberately submerged with the aid of a flagstone slab.


As a component of the black notice, a facial reconstruction of the individual has been sent.


According to Interpol, the extended period of time during which the kid's body remained unidentified is considered atypical, implying the possibility that the youngster may have originated from a foreign nation.


The public has been encouraged to communicate with the German police by providing relevant information.


Since its initiation in May, Operation Identify Me has garnered over 500 reports from law enforcement agencies regarding unidentified female homicide victims in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany.


This encompasses probable identification of victims, as well as potential investigative leads on the attire and accessories used by the women.


The initiation of the campaign was prompted by the unresolved homicide of a female individual in Amsterdam, whose remains were discovered within a refuse container situated in a waterway during the year 1999.
