Floods in Nigeria cost the country $7 billion in 2022, according to FG

According to the Federal Government, the country's infrastructure suffered around $7 billion in damages in 2022 as a result of the flood.

This information was revealed by the vice president, Kashim Shettima, on Tuesday in Abuja at the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Deputy Chief of Staff Ibrahim Hassan spoke on behalf of Shettima and stated that 600 people died in Nigeria as a result of the flood in 2022.

He claims that one of the greatest problems facing humanity, climate change, has a negative effect on Nigeria.

"We are all still here to see the devastation caused by the floods last year (2022), which paralyzed the nation for days. The overall direct economic damage to infrastructure was estimated at roughly $7 billion by the World Bank's Global Rapid post-disaster damage estimating assessment, he said.
