In the early hours of Saturday, there was a report of a fire outbreak at a section of the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Reportedly, a portion of the UCH building was damaged by the fire.
As of the time this report was being filled up, emergency personnel were on the site putting out the fire.
Authorities at the University College facility, or UCH, have responded to the incident by stating that there is no need for concern because the fire incident that injured a portion of the facility has been postponed.
In an interview with news reporters, the hospital's Chief Medical Director, Professor Abiodun Otegbayo, explained that as soon as the incident began, the authorities immediately notified three different fire services, who quickly mobilized their resources and flocked to the scene to extinguish the blaze.
Contrary to some rumors, he insisted that there was no patient trapped in the blaze that destroyed a portion of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and one of the theaters.
However, he gave relatives and families of patients the reassurance that everything was in order and that services had started as soon as possible through alternate arrangements.
