The 14th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, met with the military junta in Niamey in what looks to be a bold attempt to appease the coup leaders in the Niger Republic.
Despite not receiving a response to a phone sent to the Emir, the Telegraph stated that the coup leaders were overjoyed with Sanusi's visit.
Unconfirmed reports claim that the coup leaders paid attention to the Emir's requests, including one for them to offer a window of amicable solutions to the issues.
The new military junta gave Sanusi a warm welcome as he was taken to Niamey, the capital of the Niger Republic, by some of his closest friends and employees.
The discussion apparently concentrated on finding a path out of the national mess.
The ECOWAS leaders will meet on Thursday to discuss the next course of action after the coupists' seven-day deadline has passed.
