DSS detains the manager of an Abuja-Kaduna train for leaking a security document.

Pascal Nnorli, the manager of the Abuja-Kaduna train services, has been detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) on suspicion of leaking a confidential security document that forewarned of a potential bandit attack on the Abuja-Kaduna railway.

According to a recent report from Vanguard, the DSS on Wednesday alerted the Nigerian Railway Corporation to a bandit conspiracy to assault the train route between Abuja and Kaduna at any given moment.

The state police issued a message to train passengers advising them to exercise caution when traveling. The memo was signed by R.N. Adepemu, Director of the DSS, FCT Command.

A source from the Nigerian Railway Corporation told our correspondent over the weekend that the manager, Victor Adamu, the operations manager, and other employees had all been taken into custody.

According to the source, the arrest was most likely related to the DSS memo leak.

"Do you know that they have been detaining our manager and Pascal, the operation manager, since last Thursday?" the insider asked. However, they have let one of them go.

Victor is a victim of circumstance since they encountered him in Pascal's office, at which point they all were taken into custody and sent to the DSS office. Currently, Pascal is still there.

The letter, according to the source, was written to the managing director of the NRC and contained classified information concerning the attack. The source emphasizes that the letter specifically warned that if it leaked, it might result in arrests.

"I couldn't understand why they detained them, but from what I understand, they claimed that one letter regarding the Abuja-Kaduna attack was sent to our Managing Director and clearly stated that if the letter leaked, it could result in arrest. According to DSS, Pascal's office dropped the letter, which then leaked and went viral.

Another source stated, "While I do not know all the specifics surrounding the arrest of my employer, I am aware of the importance of organizations like the DSS in maintaining national security. As a company that manages crucial public transit, we have a responsibility to put our passengers' safety first and make sure that private information doesn't get into the wrong hands.

The NRC's Managing Director, Fidet Okhiria, did not return calls or texts when contacted.

According to Vanguard, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Kaduna State are connected by a significant transportation route that regularly sees heavy passenger traffic: the Abuja-Kaduna rail service.

Given the considerable number of commuters who rely on this method of transportation, the authorities have traditionally prioritized the security precautions for this route.
