Terrorists from Boko Haram have captured over 60 members of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Borno state.
Three of the sect's top commanders are among those taken captive. Abubakar Saddiq, Abou Maimuna, and Malam Idris have been named as the three individuals.
The ISWAP terrorists were apprehended on their approach to Damasak in Borno State, according to Zagazola Makama, a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad.
ISWAP has recently been forced to seek sanctuary in more reinforced hideouts in the axis of Kukawa, Madayi, and Kwatan Mota as a result of Boko Haram's Buduma groups' advantage.
Makama claimed;
“Their recent upper hand against the ISWAP was achieved due to the fact that some aggrieved ISWAP fighters had left the group to join forces with the Boko Haram Buduma Faction.
“These captives were later taken to an underground prison cell at KWATAN MOTA close to Dogon Chukwu where they were held as Prisoners of War.”
