About 48 women who were abducted from Maiwa and Shuwarin villages in Borno State's Mafa Local Government Area have been freed by Boko Haram militants.
After a N2.4 million ransom was paid, the kidnapped women were freed.
Zagazola Makama, a Counter-Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in Lake Chad, announced the release.
Makama said in a tweet on Thursday that the women were abducted on their farms on August 22, 2023.
After being kidnapped and subjected to arbitrary demands, the women, according to Makama, were driven to an unidentified location.
The women were freed on Wednesday, August 23, after paying N50,000 in ransom to the militants, according to Makama.
Makama added that eight of the kidnapped women had previously been freed after paying a ransom of N20,000 each.
