An individual believed to be involved in acts of vandalism was apprehended during the act of dismantling metal drain pipes located on Third Mainland Bridge.
The 21-year-old individual named Ibrahim Ashafa has been apprehended by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), which operates under the Lagos State Police Command. Ashafa is accused of engaging in the act of vandalizing the Third Mainland Bridge by unlawfully removing metal drain pipes.

 

The apprehension of the suspect occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Monday, August 28, 2023, by law enforcement personnel conducting routine surveillance of the bridge. 

 

Four metal drain ducts, spanners, pliers, a rope, a screwdriver, a wheel spanner, and various other items were retrieved from his possession. 

 

The arrest was announced by Commander CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in a statement on Tuesday. Egbeyemi further emphasized the need for the operatives to enhance their efforts in apprehending individuals responsible for vandalizing the state's infrastructures.

 

Egbeyemi issued a directive for the suspect to be brought before a court of law for prosecution.
