AGGRAVATED: Mike Pence was not aware that Trump sought to declassify documents

AFTER leaving the White House, Donald Trump reportedly made no "broad-based effort" to declassify any papers, according to former vice president Mike Pence.

The White House follows a procedure when declassifying materials. Over the course of our four years together, I'm aware of that happening on numerous occasions. Pence said to ABC News on Sunday, "But I'm not aware of any broad directive from the president.

But that does not imply that it didn't happen. It's not something I've ever heard of, he continued.

As part of the Justice Department's investigation into the former president's handling of classified documents brought to his Mar-a-Lago Florida resort after he left the White House in 2021, as well as potential obstruction of the investigation and government efforts to recover the material, Trump was indicted on seven counts in June.

Records that are classified are required to be kept in safe places. Additionally, per the Presidential Records Act, after an administration ends, White House records are meant to be transferred to the National Archives.

Trump has a history of denying wrongdoing.
