Following a significant downpour on Sunday, the bridge in Plateau State's Shendam Local Government Area that connected numerous towns and villages has fallen.
According to information obtained by our journalist, it fell on Sunday at 1pm while vehicles were using the bridge.
Although no lives were lost, Aliyu Baga, a resident of Shendam, who confirmed the news to our correspondent, claimed the bridge fall had caused extra suffering for the locals.
The LGA's residents must seek out alternative routes to reach the town and other local government councils, he said. In fact, the incident has made things more difficult. The bridge connects a variety of locations, including markets and hospitals.
It is the only bridge in the LG that makes it easier to carry farm inputs as well as all other significant economic and social activity. We implore the appropriate authorities to save the council members, the speaker continued.
The bridge was built in 1970, he added.
