According to Tinubu, the Niger coup is not ideal for Nigeria's economic reforms.

In light of the unrest in the Niger Republic, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu claims that a conflict is not ideal for Nigeria's economic reforms.

This information was made public on Saturday after a meeting between Tinubu and Ambassador Molly Phee, the US Presidential Envoy and Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs. Aguri Ngelale is the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.

By working with the Economic Community of West African States, or ECOWAS, Tinubu urged the US to strengthen democracy in the West African area.

He clarified that ECOWAS was still committed to looking at all possibilities for reestablishing democracy in the Niger Republic.

We are actively using diplomatic means to try and resolve the conflict in Niger in a peaceful manner. ECOWAS is ready for any alternative, but I still hold it back until all other corrective measures have been tried. War is neither good for the region's or my economic reforms, but defending democracy is inviolable. According to the ECOWAS agreement, nobody will be able to purchase time off of us, he stated.

On July 26, a military coup weakened Nigerien democracy.
