 According to 9ice, a renowned singer by the name of Alexander Adegbola Akande, more often referred to as 9ice, he asserts that Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, a prominent figure in the afrobeat genre who has since passed away, had a significant role in providing Nigerian musicians with an opportunity to exhibit their artistic abilities on a global scale.

During a recent interview with Sis Project Studios, the artist known for his hit song 'Gongo Aso' expressed the following statement.

According to 9ice, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti provided the foundation of Afrobeat, which enabled us to achieve prominence. Our objective was to engage in the creation of Afropop music. Our objective was to engage in the creation of afrobeats music. We endeavored to generate various appellations. However, Baba [Fela] has already attained global recognition for his accomplishments.

Afrobeat has provided me with significant insights and knowledge. King Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey, and Fela Anikulapo-Kuti are esteemed figures who hold a significant place in our cultural heritage. I am pleased to exist in order to imitate or adhere to their accomplishments.
