41 terrorists and commanders are killed in combat between Boko Haram and ISWAP in Borno.

Infighting broke out on Wednesday in the northern part of Borno State, killing no less than 41 fighters from the Jama'at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da'wah wa'l-Jihd, Boko Haram, and the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP), including their commanders.

According to sources, the Bakoura Buduma-led group of Boko Haram was attacked in the Kukawa Local Government Area on the axis of Duguri by ISWAP terrorists who arrived on multiple canoes.

The state capital of Maiduguri is around 130 kilometers away from Kukawa in the Northern Borno senatorial area.

According to reliable reports, "the bloody encounter left 41 fighters dead on both sides including group commanders."

Zagazola Makama, a security analyst and counter-insurgency specialist in the Lake Chad region, corroborated this on Thursday as well.

According to Makama, the ISWAP dealt a significant blow to the Boko Haram terrorists, killing many of their commanders in the process.

Modu Kayi, Abbah Musa, Isa Muhammad, Ibrahim Ali, Kanai Zakariya, Bula Salam, Isuhu Alhaji Umaru, Dogo Salman, and Abdulrahman Malam Musa were among the leaders identified by the source, along with others.

Conflicts between Boko Haram and ISWAP were more frequent and violent. Particularly in the Lake Chad region and the Sambisa forest in Borno state.

Following the defection of one Abou Idris, a former operational chief of Boko Haram who joined ISWAP to combat his old organization, the ISWAP is rumored to be in the lead.
